If you live in a household with two or more people who are not related to you (Houses in Multiple Occupation) then your household should have: Smoke alarm(s) on each storey of the building (as a minimum) Doors on rooms that lead to escape routes An escape route that does not pass through a kitchen If you live in the area of Bedfordshire, the Bedfordshire Fire Rescue Service have an e-mail address where you can e-mail them in confidence to discuss concerns about inadequate fire safety standards.
